I began work with Blender today, an online open source 3D designing software that I would be working with for the rest of the week. My manager decided we would make a trophy, and the first key step to that, was getting a reference. Swiftly taking a trophy from one of the people I was working with(with their permission of course), I took pictures of the front, side and top angles. By doing this, I could get the perfect size of the trophy, without having to take any measurements. it also ensured I would get all the curves correctly, as I could simply trace it along the outline of the pictures imported into Blender. Next was painstakingly creating planes, cubes and cylinders to create the model. And after just three hours, the base model itself was done.

What is Blender?
Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software tool set used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D-printed models, motion graphics, interactive 3D applications, virtual reality, and, formerly, video games.
What does open source mean?
Open-source software is computer software that is released under a license in which the copyright holder grants users the rights to use, study, change, and distribute the software and its source code to anyone and for any purpose.
What is a plane?
A plane is an infinitely large, flat surface that exists in 3D space and divides the space into two halves known as half-spaces.
