Day 15: Game Improvements

Updated: Jul 24, 2023

I started today by quickly using Photopea to edit out the base sticker on the trophy, and increase the saturation and vibrance. The previous sticker was very dull in comparision to the golden color of the trophy itself. Once the editing was done, I reimported the png into Unity, and made it a separate gameobject which I then positioned over the original sticker. With that out of the way, I opened up my unity game project, and decided I would work on player movement and camera rotation. Surprisingly, this was much harder than I expected. Even though I had done this before in the original game, this game's movement was more constraintless, and so it was slightly harder to decipher. Eventually, I managed to get the rigidbodies and character controllers working such that I was able to make very rudimentary movement, albeit without animations. I decided I would work on that tomorrow...

What are rigidbodies?

Rigidbodies enable your GameObjects to act under the control of physics. The Rigidbody can receive forces and torque to make your objects move in a realistic way.

What are character controllers?

A CharacterController is not affected by forces and will only move when you call the Move function. It will then carry out the movement but be constrained by collisions.
