Day 25: Falling animations

My plan for the day: I wanted to work on adding some sort of animation for when the character was falling and landing, which turned out to be surprisingly harder than expected.


What I accomplished:

I started by downloading the two key animations I would need; the falling and landing ones. Once I had those from mixamo, it was time to start searching up and understanding how to check if a player was grounded or whether he was in the air. To do so, I used raycasts at the player's feet to detect when he was in the air or not. If he was in the air, it would play a falling animation and once within a certain range of the ground, would play a landing animation. The code was quite complicated, as I had not frequently used raycasts, but after a little help from online sources, I was well on my way to moving on to weapons in the next blog.
