Day 22: Sprinting, rolling and backsteps

My plan for the day:

I wanted to work on some more player locomotion, and so I looked up a few guides on how dodging and backstepping were simulated in combat based games, and began my work from there.

What I accomplished?

I decided to work on some more player locomotion today. To begin with, I wanted to add in a sprint button when shift was held down, and go back to walking when it was let go off. I coded this into the player locomotion script, and once that was done, I started finding animations for rolling. This step took me a while, because while finding the animation was easy enough, I wasn't sure whether I should click Stay in place or not. Unfortunately, I ended up clicking it, and once I had finished all the code for the roll, it ended up not working, and so I imported a new animation this time without stay in place checked, and it worked much better. As for the backstep, I imported a dodge back animation from mixamo, and then coded the animation in. The way it worked was holding down shift while walking would transition to sprinting, and if you tapped shift while walking or sprinting, it would activate the dodge. To backstep, you simply had to press shift while stationary. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________
